Kaden and Kyler's Birthday Party

I can't believe how fast the kids are growing up. I think daily of how I wish I could press a pause button to stop the boys from growing up so fast. Our birthday planning was disturbed by our dear friend Hurricane Ike. We survived the hurricane with minor damage to our fence and we lost electricity for 13 days. It was pretty nice for Luke to get a week off of work without interruptions from TV, Internet, and cell phones. It was scary to see how much technology takes up so much of our time. We played cards, rode bikes, played baseball, ate several PBJ's, and waited in long lines for ice and gas. Luke made me a clothes line in the back yard and I started doing laundry by hand. We would sit around at night trying to find a channel on the radio with the news, but we had to hold the antenna in one spot to hear anything. Luke and I had an ongoing game of Rummy and we made it to 1000. I really felt sorry for the women back in the war days. I can not imagine that being your only source of information. We survived and we are thankful that Gold kept us safe through all of this. Kyler and Kaden had a blast at their birthday party. Here are a few pictures of the fun. Enjoy!!!
